About events:

Valmuen - Linjeforening exist to provide students at the Game School with a variety of social events. We aim to hold events that benefit Game School students both socially and academically.

Most of our events are free, open to any student at the university. Everything from big LAN parties, game nights, seasonal events and more. We also host exclusive events for just game school students. These events might be external lectures, academic trips, or game jams.

Each semester, we have general assembly’s where every student can attend. Here we give information on new changes, and we vote for new Valmuen representatives. Only Game School students can become a Valmuen representative and only Game School students can vote.

Regular events:

Some of the events you can expect from us are:

Game nights where we provide consols and good company, and of course some snacks.

seasonal events like trick or treat, easer egg hunts, etc.

exams crunches, in case anyone wants to work together and help each other during stressful periods.

LAN, we usually host at least one big LAN party at school a year. This is what many people look forward to.

The Valmuen board tries their best to host the best events for both game school students and the rest of the school. If you got any suggestions for future events, send us a message on discord or an email with your suggestion.

Exclusive events:

Valmuen’s events mostly targets Gameschool students, and we sometimes host exclusive event just for them.

In the past we hosted a cabin trip where we travelled out to a cabin and slept over. We also host trips to museums or other related events for the students. Sometimes we are approached by teachers to help host external lectures or talks that’s just for game school student’s ears.

These events are focus on being academically relevant, but also to help build bonds between the students. That’s why we prioritize advertising to first years.

Subgroup Events:

We currently have 3 active subgroups running, and they can host events as well. These events could be for both just the members of the subgroups, or open for everyone. in the past we’ve had events like dnd one-shot day, thrift together, drawpiles, etc.

Promoting other events:

Sometimes Valmuen are supporters for other organisations to help spread word of other events happening. We try to keep a wide web of collaborators and sponsors. Sponsors allow us to get prizes for tournaments, locations to host events and money.
